Vuzix Luster plugin

This demo came out of a partnership between Vuzix and the Rochester Institute of Technology. The task was to come up with a demo incorporating Vuzix head-mounted displays and 3D game technology before the Imagine RIT Innovation + Creativity Festival on May 2nd. There was a 1 week timeline. A Luster plugin was developed for interfacing with the Vuzix display, and an existing plugin was employed to use a Wii remote for the controls.
More information can be found at the Luster at Imagine RIT Innovation + Creativity Festival blog post.

Installation

You need to have the latest Luster installation which is currently available through our Beta program. Head over to the Beta Sign-up page to get started. Next you will need WiiFlash if you intend to use a Wii remote for flight control. If you want to use the keyboard controls then you can skip installation of WiiFlash. Next you will need to install the Vuzix Luster plugin to enable display and head tracking through the Vuzix head-mounted displays. To install this plugin download the zip file. Then unzip the contents (a folder called "com.darkwindmedia.vuzix") into the runtime\plugins folder in your Luster installation. The actual Soarcraft application can be download from here. Once downloaded, this L3D file can be run as a normal application, as long as the Luster Runtime has been installed properly.

Note

If you do not have the Vuzix hardware plugged into your computer, be sure to select "No" when the application asks you to load the Vuzix plugin.
